History
During a worldwide recession in 1954, Hubert Wulf and his wife, Marianne, established ADO Gardinenwerke in the small, northern rural town of Aschendorf, Germany. ADO Gardinenwerke succeeded in part due to the Wulf’s unparalleled vision and innovative ideas; however, the most important factor was ADO’s technical superiority and commitment to manufacture using only the finest materials to the highest quality standards.
Upon the success of ADO Gardinenwerke, Mr. Wulf envisioned an expansion across the Atlantic Ocean. Rather than merely import the finest fabrics to the United States, he dedicated himself to importing the technical expertise required to manufacture the best fabrics and window treatments. Thus, in 1979 ADO Corporation was born.
Today, flair21 continues this tradition of excellence with the same unwavering commitment to using only the finest materials — under stringent manufacturing techniques and quality control procedures — thereby maintaining its industry leadership in wide-width fabrics and custom-made window treatments.
In order to meet the demands of today’s face-paced economy—where quick turnaround is the expectation even for custom-made products like our fabric and window treatments—ADO Corporation became flair21. flair21 was born with the introduction of our new quick-ship fabric collection. At the same time, we continue to offer the ADO Goldkante and Decor54 designer fabric collections.
flair21 is our new collection of wide-width sheer and drapery weight fabrics with designs and colorways developed specifically for you, the modern designer. Best of all, this quick-ship collection is available from our inventory and workroom for guaranteed quick turnaround on cut yardage and finished treatments. It includes our core sheer designs, that have driven our success for the past 35+ years, plus our 3 top-selling faux linens, a new IFR room-darkening fabric, 7 reintroduced designs with updated colorways and 17 brand new designs.
But this is just the beginning for flair21. Our quick-ship collection will continue to grow as we develop and produce new modern and classic designs to suit your clients unique window treatment needs.
Manufacturing
For over half a century, flair21 window treatments and drapery fabrics have been synonymous with the highest quality, fashion-forward design and state-of-the-art textile technology. flair21 boats the necessary expertise, technology and relevant know-how required to manufacture everything from the fabrics we weave to our ready-to-hang window treatments.
Our designer fabrics are developed and manufactured in our facilities throughout Europe. All flair21 and ADO Goldkante Collection fabrics are A-grade quality, which means every inch of our fabrics have been inspected, and all imperfections removed for guaranteed flawless beauty. From the first yarn of fabric woven to the final stitch in your finished window treatment, flair21 takes pride in providing you the finest quality, down to the last detail.
Workroom
The fabrication of custom window treatments is one of the most important facets of design and style. Craft is everything—even the most luxurious fabric in the world will look ordinary if the workmanship of a finished treatment is not excellent. flair21 stands by that statement, and quality craftsmanship is the key to all of our custom window treatments. flair21’s signature Eurohem is a weighted, bottom-sewn hem for an ideal drapery hang. It is standard on most flair21 fabrics (with the exception of the Décor 54 Collection), and provides a clean, finished look to a variety of window treatment styles.

Not only are our designer fabrics easy to care for, but all+ flair21 and ADO Goldkante Collection fabrics are also 118” of seamless, flawless beauty made with industry-leading quality, and backed by a 5-year guarantee not to shrink, stretch or fade.
All flair21 fabrics are also Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certified, which means they underwent extensive industry tests that prove they are safe for indoor environments and contact with skin.
Flame Retardant (FR)
In addition to our Inherently Flame Retardant (IFR) fabrics woven with Trevira® CS yarn, flair21 also offers a post-weave topical fabric treatment utilizing a “Class A” fire retardant that is available for ALL fabric designs and colors. It complies with all state requirements for flame retardancy (NFPA 701 guidelines). This enhanced safety measure is not only great for your home, but also ideal for hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, public waiting zones and other commercial projects. This treatment is also tested with industrial washing resistance for a long lasting efficacy (up to 25 washes).
BioProtect®
Another post-weave topical treatment available for ALL flair21 fabrics is BioProtect®. This treatment utilizes the Aegis antimicrobial agent that kills 99% of all bacteria upon contact, and is applied with bonding agents that cause a nearly permanent and slow release of antimicrobial treatment over time. BioProtect® meets ASTM E2149-10 and AATCC100-2004 standards for antibacterial finishes on fabrics. Just imagine—window treatments that actually fight disease-spreading, odor-causing bacteria! This enhanced safety measure is not only great for your home, but also ideal for hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, public waiting zones and other commercial projects. This treatment is also tested with industrial washing resistance for a long lasting efficacy (up to 25 washes).

This starts with developing and manufacturing fabrics and products precisely engineered to perform as intended and manufactured using state-of-the-art technology. It also entails employing the highest quality materials in ISO-certified processes, which ultimately leads to reliable products. As an expression of our confidence in our products and as a guarantee to YOU, our customer, every flair21 product comes with the following limited lifetime warranty:
Covered
- flair21 warrants its products for defects in materials, workmanship or failure to operate for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product (unless shorter periods are provided below)
- All internal mechanisms
- Components and brackets
- Operational cords for a full 7 years from the date of purchase
- Motorized components are warranted for the first five years from the date of purchase
- All flair21 fabrics — with the exception of Décor 54 — are guaranteed not to shrink, stretch or fade during the first five years from the date of purchase
- Repairs and replacements will be made with like or similar parts or products
Not Covered
- Any conditions caused by normal wear and tear (including, but not limited to: exposure to the sun)
- Alterations, abuse, misuse or accidents (including, but not limited to: wind, water/ moisture damage) to the flair21 product
- Failure to follow flair21 instructions regarding installation, measurements, cleaning or maintenance
- Shipping charges; cost of removal and reinstallation
- Décor 54 fabrics due to the natural characteristics of fabric fibers (such as, but not limited to: linens, silks, cottons, etc.)
flair21 reserves the right to repair products covered under warranties rather than to replace the product.
NOTE: In no event shall flair21 be liable or responsible for incidental or consequential damages or for any other indirect damage, loss, cost, or expense. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion or limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state.
